Terms of Use

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and TimelyDevs ("TimelyDevs", "we", "us") covering the BuffBox app, the BuffBox API, and buffbox.app (together, the "Service").

Please read them. By downloading or using BuffBox you accept these terms, and when you create an account the app asks you to accept them before you can use account features. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Who may use BuffBox

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use BuffBox only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.

Your license to use BuffBox

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use BuffBox on devices you own or control, for your own collection management. This license does not let you resell the Service, use it to run a commercial inventory or pricing operation for others, or redistribute the app.

Accounts

You can use BuffBox without an account, in which case your collection stays on your device and you are responsible for backing up your device.

If you create an account, keep your sign-in credentials secure and do not share them. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been used without your permission. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms.

BuffBox Premium subscriptions

BuffBox is free to use. BuffBox Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription, offered in monthly and yearly terms with a free trial period for new subscribers. Current pricing and trial length are shown in the app before you purchase.

  • Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through In-App Purchase, charged to your Apple ID.
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. If you are in a free trial, payment begins when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before then.
  • Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings under Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies, not by us. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases.
  • A free trial is generally available only once per Apple ID, as determined by Apple.

If we change subscription pricing, the change applies to future billing periods and Apple will notify you as required.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • use the Service to break the law or infringe anyone's intellectual property rights;
  • access the API by any means other than the BuffBox app, or scrape, bulk-download, or resell data obtained through the Service;
  • send automated or excessive requests, interfere with the Service, or try to gain unauthorized access to it or to another user's account;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service, except to the limited extent applicable law permits for interoperability and cannot be waived by contract; or
  • upload content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or malicious.

Your content

You keep ownership of the content you add to BuffBox, including your collection data, deck lists, profile images, and custom sleeve art. You give us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, and display that content solely to operate the Service for you, and, for decks you choose to publish to a shareable link, to display that deck to anyone with the link.

You are responsible for having the rights to any image you upload. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with enough detail to identify the work and the content at issue, and we will review and remove infringing content where appropriate.

Accuracy of card identification and prices

BuffBox identifies cards using automated image and text matching that runs on your device. It is best-effort and will sometimes be wrong, particularly with damaged cards, unusual printings, alternate art, poor lighting, or non-English cards. Always confirm a match before relying on it. You are responsible for reviewing what BuffBox adds to your collection.

Card data, images, and set information come from third parties, primarily Scryfall, and may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate.

Prices shown in BuffBox are estimates gathered from third-party sources, including Scryfall and, for Premium subscribers, TCGPlayer. They are not offers to buy or sell, not appraisals, and not financial advice. Market prices change constantly and may differ substantially from what you can actually buy or sell a card for. Any decision you make to buy, sell, trade, or insure cards is yours alone.

Price alerts are a convenience and depend on third-party data and on push notification delivery by Apple. We do not guarantee that an alert will be sent, or sent on time.

The Service connects to services we do not control, including Scryfall, TCGPlayer, Amazon Web Services, and Apple. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or for the content of sites we link to.

Magic: The Gathering and Wizards of the Coast

Magic: The Gathering is a trademark of Wizards of the Coast LLC. BuffBox is unofficial Fan Content permitted under the Fan Content Policy. Not approved/endorsed by Wizards. Portions of the materials used are property of Wizards of the Coast.

Card names, text, and imagery used in BuffBox are based on data and assets provided by Scryfall. BuffBox is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast, Scryfall, or TCGPlayer.

Our intellectual property

The BuffBox app, the BuffBox name and logo, the API, the website, and their design, code, and original content are owned by TimelyDevs and protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not grant you any right to use our name or branding.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we handle it. It is part of your agreement with us.

Changes to the Service and to these terms

We are actively developing BuffBox and may add, change, or remove features, including Premium features. If we discontinue a Premium feature in a way that materially reduces what you paid for, you may cancel your subscription through Apple.

We may update these terms. When we make a material change we publish a new version and ask you to accept it in the app before continuing to use account features. Your continued use after a new version takes effect means you accept it.

Termination

You may stop using BuffBox at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections covering your content license, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law survive termination.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT CARD IDENTIFICATION WILL BE ACCURATE, OR THAT PRICE DATA WILL BE ACCURATE OR CURRENT.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TIMELYDEVS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, COLLECTION VALUE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR TWENTY-FIVE UNITED STATES DOLLARS.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold TimelyDevs harmless from claims, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of content you upload or publish, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for BuffBox. You acknowledge that:

  • these terms are between you and TimelyDevs only;
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for BuffBox;
  • if BuffBox fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund your purchase price, and Apple has no other warranty obligation;
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim you have relating to BuffBox, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection claims;
  • Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, or resolving any third-party claim that BuffBox infringes intellectual property rights;
  • you comply with applicable third-party terms when using BuffBox; and
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and TimelyDevs agree that any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and each of us consents to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws in your country of residence.

Miscellaneous

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and TimelyDevs regarding the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
